Not long after confirming their plans to establish themselves in Scottsdale, Call Her Martina has followed up to give What Now Phoenix an inside look at their upcoming restaurant. “Drawing inspiration from classic Mexican dishes, Call Her Martina reinvents familiar favorites to create a timeless fusion of old and new,” says Elisa Moreno, who owns and operates the restaurant alongside her entire family.
“Our Abuela Malucha has always had an instinct for mixing fresh flavors and creating experiences out of otherwise ordinary meals. Our family has deep roots in our Sonoran culture and cuisine. We are thrilled to share generations of recipes and pairings that have evolved over time.”
“Call Her Martina’s menu is the result of fun and interesting twists on Mexican dishes we all already know and love. Our recipes range from table-side prepared Guacamole, to a cutting-edge Tuna Tostada, to a high-quality Rib-Eye cut served on top of the most indulgent white cheese sauce.”
With the help of Sonoran Chef Fernando Gienesta, the menu also features mouthwatering dishes such as Crispy Shrimp Buñuelos, Hamachi Crudo Tiradito, Quesabirrias, Rib-Eye Aguachile, and more. Moreno adds that the menu is designed to encourage guests to share dishes among the whole table, as is the style in modern Mexico.
Bartender Dominique Jackson and mixologist Miguel Mora are hard at work making sure every single cocktail is carefully designed to bring a well-balanced palatable experience. “Bringing the best of Mexico with our Agave-based menu, our cocktail mixes are crafted organically and paired with spirits creating a fusion of flavors that will take your food pairings to another level,” Moreno says.
Finally, Moreno notes that Call Her Martina is meant to evoke an elegant, yet lively atmosphere, which is why the theme is La Epoca De Oro. She says, “When the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema reached its peak, Mexican actresses were well recognized around the world. Call Her Martina is about empowering women, so we hope our restaurant reflects that.”
“This is why we say our concept is a fusion of old and new — old-school styles and recipes with modern touches. Visit us to experience this ‘Mexican with a Twist.’” For more information, follow @martinascottsdale on Instagram and check out callhermartina.com.
