Local restaurateurs Don Talbot and Clay Moizo are set to begin construction later this summer on their newest concept, a country bar and barbecue smokehouse dubbed Foley Ranch, which will be located in Desert Ridge Marketplace and could open around December of this year, according to Moizo.

“We’re really happy to bring something new to Phoenix…We’ve traveled all across the country visiting other country bars along with barbecue, and kind of put all of the right pieces into one home,” Moizo tells What Now Phoenix. “We’ve seen some great stuff and we’ve seen some stuff at places that we would never do, and to kind of take all of those great ideas and bring them together at Foley Ranch, I think, is going to create an experience that most haven’t seen at a country bar and barbecue smokehouse.”

The restaurant’s barbecue menu, which will feature a panoply of styles pulled from all over the country, was developed in conjunction with noted celebrity chef and Food Network star Brian Duffy. “So we’ve got some great fire power behind it, and experience in that arena,” says Moizo.

Meanwhile, Foley Ranch’s beverage program, housed in an impressive 35-foot bar, will feature a number of signature cocktails, with numerous beer tub stations spread throughout the property as well.

As for the ambiance, folks can expect a true country Western experience, complete with live music and free dancing lessons, as well as a sort of club vibe that takes over around 9pm featuring VIP booths and DJs, all within the country theme of course, and brunch on the weekends.

Moizo says that the idea for Foley Ranch – which is inspired by Talbot’s family ranch of the same name in Montana – has been percolating for about 10 years now. The duo already owns and operates an impressive portfolio of businesses around town under their Icon Hospitality Group banner, including Gold Key Racquet Club, Half Moon Windy City Sports Grill, Stir Crazy Comedy Club, and Scramble.

“[Don] grew up on that ranch over the summers, and we’ve both just kind of grown up loving country,” says Moizo, adding, “We’ve always wanted to open up our own country bar and smokehouse, and [we’re] finally there.”
