Dave’s Italian Eatery, a casual Italian restaurant offering pizza, pasta, and wings, is getting ready to open in Gilbert at 929 N. Val Vista Drive, Suite 101.
The new eatery will move into the space formerly occupied by Rio Rico Mexican Grill, which has moved across the lot, located in the Patterson Landing shopping center, according to a recent liquor license application. While an exact opening date has not been announced, the concept joins a tenant lineup that includes PetSmart, Handel’s Ice Cream, Barnes Fine Jewelers, Dollar Tree, and more. The restaurant will occupy a 998-square-foot corner space next to the Water and Ice Discount Superstore.
Dave’s Italian Eatery is the latest project from DJB Ventures LLC, led by local entrepreneur Depinder (David) Bhatti. Bhatti is an experienced restaurant owner, hotelier, and franchise operator with a long history in the hospitality industry, including Eatalio Pasta & Wine and Napoli Italian Restaurant. He also co-owns multiple hotel properties under the SureStay and Majestic Mountain Inn banners.
In addition to restaurants, Bhatti has worked across various industries, including catering, event coordination, logistics, and retail. His diverse background includes operating catering ventures specializing in Italian-Indian fusion, as well as managing furniture and freight companies.
Though a full menu has not yet been released, customers can expect a familiar lineup of casual Italian fare, with pizzas, pastas, and wings forming the core of the offerings. Given Bhatti’s background with Eatalio and Napoli, the new spot will likely reflect a blend of traditional Italian comfort food and approachable favorites.
Located in a busy shopping center surrounded by established retailers and neighborhoods, Dave’s Italian Eatery is well-positioned to attract consistent foot traffic. Its proximity to local favorites like the Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch, Gilbert Regional Park, and the shops at Patterson Landing makes it a convenient stop for families, nature lovers, and nearby residents. With its comfort-food menu and easygoing vibe, the new eatery could quickly become a local go-to.
