Din Tai Fung, the Chinese restaurant chain known worldwide for its soup dumplings and noodles, has announced it will open a restaurant at the Chandler Fashion Center. The news has already made it to the restaurant’s website, with a note that it will be “steaming soon”.
According to the Phoenix Business Journal, the restaurant has announced plans to initiate construction at the Chandler mall — even as the restaurant continues to work on its Scottsdale location. The Chinese noodle palace will take over the former BJ’s Brewhouse space at Chandler Fashion Center, located at 3111 W. Chandler Boulevard. The restaurant isn’t expected to open until 2027.Â
In August 2024, What Now Phoenix reported that Din Tai Fung would open its first-ever Arizona restaurant at the Scottsdale Fashion Mall at 7014 E. Camelback Road. That location is still under construction, according to the Phoenix New Times, which reports the opening date has been pushed back to 2026.
Din Tai Fung has a long history, with founder Yang Bing-yi opening the first restaurant in Taipei in 1958 in part, to help sell cooking oil. The restaurant, best known for its soup dumplings, now has more than 180 restaurants in 13 countries, with 18 locations in the U.S., including a mega 25,000 square foot location in New York City.
