Espiritu is a new restaurant coming to 123 W. Main St. in Mesa, at the former Herb ‘n’ Smoke which closed down earlier this year. The concept is brought to us by Armando Hernandez, who also owns the Tacos Chiwas just a few doors down, as well as locations in Phoenix and Chandler.

Hernandez confirmed with What Now Phoenix that plans for Espiritu are currently in the works, but that was all he could say for the time being. He added that an official opening date sometime in 2022 will be announced soon, hopefully by the end of the year.

Being that information about Espiritu is being kept under wraps, all we can do at this point is speculate. One is left to wonder whether Espiritu’s menu will be inspired by Chihuahua-style cuisine, much like that found at Tacos Chiwas.

What Now Phoenix came across a recent liquor license application within state public records, so we are certain that Espiritu will serve alcohol in some form. In any case, Hernandez promises us that more information is to come at a later date.
