After five years of business, Sandbar Mexican Grill has officially closed its last location in Gilbert at 1975 E Williams Field Rd.

This is the second Sandbar to close this year, following the closure of Desert Ridge Sandbar in March. Evening Entertainment Group replaced the site with a Backyard. Now, the group is planning to keep the space in Gilbert and replace it with a new venue, according to AZ Central. While the concept has yet to be announced, the company plans to open it in Fall 2024. Other concepts from the group include Bottled Blonde, Bevvy, Chauncy Social, RnR Gastropub, Hi-Fi Kitchen + Cocktails, and Casa Amigos.

“Sandbar has had an incredible run here in Gilbert,” Les Corieri, co-owner of Evening Entertainment Group and Sandbar Mexican Grill, said in a press release. “While we are sad to see it go, EEG has always stayed on the forefront of nightlife and dining, and we are excited to reveal an amazing new venue right here in Gilbert this fall. We love this neighborhood and can’t wait to welcome everyone back soon for the grand opening party.”

At one point, Sandbar Mexican Grill had a handful of locations in the Valley, with additional sites in Chandler and Paradise Valley, but unfortunately, it closed the last one on May 6. There’s no official word about whether the 30-year-old Scottsdale-based company plans to replace the site with a new or existing concept. The Gilbert location was a 4,760-square-foot building with a patio larger than the building, according to the Maricopa County Assessor. Evening Entertainment Group will announce Sandbar’s replacement in the coming months.
