Phoenix’s beloved Chino Bandido is moving to a new location. A cult-classic of the Phoenix restaurant scene, Chino Bandido has been serving up Mexican-Asian fusion dishes for 31 years, and according to AZ Big Media, co-owner Eve Collins says it’s about time for an upgrade.
The new location at 310 W. Bell Road will reportedly boast 6,000 square feet, with an expansive chef’s kitchen, a large outdoor patio, and upgraded furniture. But loyalists need not fear: the new spot is only a five minute drive from the original, and Pancho, the custom-made, 7,500 lb black granite bear from Shan Dong, China, has already been relocated. At the new place, the Chino Bandido mascot will live comfortably in the center of the restaurant’s dining room, decorated by colorful silk lanterns.
Aside from its new location and decor upgrades, Chino Bandido will remain the Phoenix staple it’s always been. Its hours and menu, including those delicious, homemade snickerdoodle cookies, will stay the same, and the look and feel of the new location will be reminiscent of the original — think, Chino Bandido 2.0.
The restaurant is hoping to open its new doors in June, but until then, the original spot is open for business daily from 11am to 9pm.
