Brazilian steakhouse Fogo de Chão is expanding its Arizona presence.
The restaurant is planning on opening a location in Peoria, taking over the shuttered On The Border space at 7873 W Bell Road. According to Upper West Side Phoenix, the design review has been approved by the city. An opening date has not been announced at this time.
Fogo de Chão opened its first location in Brazil and expanded to the United States in 1997. The restaurant chain, run by CEO Barry McGowan, has grown exponentially with more than 70 locations. The restaurant is increasingly popular in Arizona, with locations in Phoenix, Tucson, and Scottsdale. An additional location, planned for Goodyear, will open in 2026.
Fogo de Chão is best known for its signature steak, picanha, just lightly seasoned with rock saly and thinly sliced. The restaurant also serves filet mignon, and costela (beef ribs) that are rubbed in rock salt and then grilled for several hours. The restaurant also offers seafood, sides, and its seasonal market table, which highlights the freshest ingredients such as vine ripened tomatoes, roasted beets, prickly pears, kiwi, and dragon fruit.
Fogo de Chão also offers catering services and has a rewards program that recognizes frequent customers with upgrades and other perks.
