A new taproom and kitchen is headed to Tempe later this summer. Paul Gillingwater’s Freely Taproom and Kitchen (formerly Fremont Taproom) will open on E Warner Road in the second half of August.

In addition to a 6,000 square foot, dog-friendly covered patio, the taproom will house a full bar with frozen cocktails and 24 taps of local craft brews.

Gillingwater told What Now Phoenix, Freely has no plans to stop there. Once the taproom has grown into the 2,500 square foot interior space a bit more, Gillingwater has plans for a 6-retail door cooler with between 80 and 100 cans and bottles to go. The taproom’s bottleshop will also carry around 60 of each red and white wines for patrons to grab-and-go or enjoy in-house.

Gillingwater worked with the Valley’s O.H.S.O. Brewery & Distillery for about 10 years. He says Freely will have some of those good O.H.S.O. vibes in the form of industrial-style décor and wood-tones. He also hopes to bring a boozy brunch to Freely by sometime this fall. In the meantime, the Freely kitchen will specialize in shareable plates and grilled flatbreads.

Freely will be “nice and casual and really meant for people who just want to come out and have a beer,” says Gillingwater. Follow Freely’s social media for updates.
