Harold’s Cave Creek Corral, one of Phoenix’s oldest and most historic establishments, has slightly changed ownership at 6895 E. Cave Creek Road in Cave Creek.
The restaurant has welcomed new co-owners, Jim “Z” and Kris Ziebart of Carefree, who will be taking over for longtime co-owners Bill and Marie Vale, and will join co-owners Danny and Meri Piacquadio in continuing Harold’s success while honoring the history and culture, according to InBusinessPHX. As Cave Creek’s original “Wild West Saloon and Restaurant,” Harold’s is a landmark and popular stomping ground for locals and tourists alike. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the iconic country western bar also attracts local and national musicians and bands who entertain patrons throughout the year.
“After more than 21 incredible years, our dear friends and longtime partners, Bill and Marie Vale, have decided to pass the torch,” Danny Piacquadio, Harold’s longtime co-owner and general manager, said in a news release. “Their leadership, dedication, and passion have helped shape Harold’s into the iconic gathering place it is today, fostering a strong community spirit, supporting local charities and schools, and making Harold’s a true Cave Creek institution.”
Jim and Kris Ziebart, originally from Wisconsin, share the same family values and commitment to community as Danny and Meri Piacquadio. They enjoy spending summers in Wisconsin and aren’t bothered by Harold’s reputation as “Heinz Field West,” which turns into a sea of black and gold on NFL Steelers game days. With new ownership, Harold’s plans to expand its lineup of live bands, musicians, and other talented performers to enhance entertainment at its spacious outdoor venue behind the restaurant, including more national touring acts.
“We have been friends with Bill and Marie for nearly eight years, and we have come to love Harold’s and the Cave Creek community,” Jim Ziebart said in a news release. “Kris and I have tremendous respect for Danny and Meri, and our primary goal is to keep Harold’s a locally owned restaurant and support the Harold’s team so they can continue to thrive.”
