Two of Phoenix’s most creative culinary professionals are collaborating on a project that will pay homage to Southeast Asian food and drink.

Hornbill, a new cocktail lounge and restaurant, is set to open early 2026 in the former The Market by Jennifer’s space at 3603 E. Indian School Road in Arcadia. Jennifer Russo of the Market will retain the space, transforming it into Hornbill in partnership with mixologist Jason Asher of Juniper & Jigger Hospitality Co., according to the Phoenix New Times.

Though a menu has not been released, expect cocktails and dishes inspired by Asher’s time in Southeast Asia — especially Singapore’s sophisticated cocktail scene mixed with its vibrant street food culture best displayed through its Hawker Markets. According to Paradise Valley,  Hornbill, says Asher, “is a way of bottling that sensory chaos into a refined Arcadia destination”.

Hornbill, named after the birds found in tropical and subtropical Africa and Asia, will combine the strengths of Russo and Asher, who are both graduates of the California Culinary Academy. Asher was a finalist in 2024 for Tales of the Cocktail Foundation’s Spirited Awards “Best U.S. Bar Mentor” and was named GQ Bombay Sapphire’s Most Inspired Bartender in 2010. Russo has run a successful catering business in Phoenix for nearly three decades and was the owner of The Market by Jennifer’s, a beloved restaurant for more than a decade.
