While the loss of Tempe Asian fusion burger favorite Deez Buns appeared at first to be one of many tragic pandemic dining casualties, Justin Jin Park has found a silver lining.
A former partner at Deez Buns and the mastermind behind Korean late-night food and soju bar Drunken Tiger, Park will be returning to the former Deez Buns space on W Washington St. to open a new concept, Kbop. AZ Central reports the new eatery aims for a soft opening by the end of this month.
At Kbop you can expect a classic fast casual vibe with a Korean twist. Diners will be able to design custom bowls with their choice of rice (or japchae!), protein (including bulgogi grilled to order, spicy pork, and tofu), and many other tasty add-ons.
Park’s roots in Arizona run deep. His father used to run Korea Mart in Mesa, another business lost to Covid. As of now, the Kbop plans to feature a market-inspired section of Korean drinks and snacks for diners to enjoy with their meal or back at the office.
