Kabob Grill N’ Go, a family-owned Armenian/Persian-style kabob joint known for grilling over mesquite wood coals, suffered a fire at 3050 N. 16th Street and plans to rebuild in the future.

Tony Chilingaryan and his wife, Hasmik, opened Kabob Grill N’ Go just before the pandemic in 2020 and have since gained recognition in the Valley, including being named to The New York Times’ Top 50 restaurants in 2022. Two years later, the restaurant was featured on Guy Fieri’s “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.” The restaurant has now announced that it is temporarily closed following a devastating fire. While the ownership team prepares to rebuild and recover, a customer has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help finance the upcoming restoration.

“Kabob Grill N’ Go wasn’t just another eatery — it was a local treasure. Known for their mouthwatering, charcoal-grilled kabobs and heartfelt hospitality, Tony and Hasmik built a place where everyone felt like family,” according to the GoFundMe. “Their incredible food and warm personalities caught the attention of The New York Times, Phoenix New Times, and even Guy Fieri, who featured them on Season 49 of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.”

The owners would soon discover that an electrical fire had caused the fire. The fire destroyed everything, turning their dream and years of hard work into ashes overnight. Known for their passion and authentic charcoal-grilled kabobs, the couple is now facing the daunting challenge of rebuilding from scratch. They are seeking support from the community to restore their space, replace lost equipment, and sustain themselves as they work toward reopening. Thankfully, no one was injured.

“WE LOVE you and appreciate every word, support, and participation,” Tony said in an Instagram video caption. “Your support makes us stronger, and yes, we are in the most incredible city, the city of Phoenix. We promise we will go through this and come back as a Phoenix bird.”
