Kitsune Brewing Company, Arizona’s only Black-owned brewery, is gearing up to move into their first physical location.
The brewery, which is heading to 3301 E Bell Road, is owned by Tyler Smith, who decided to follow his passion for beer after working for Nike for 10 years.
According to the Kickstarter, Smith had been brewing for 14 years when he decided to pursue his dreams. With hopes to open a full brewery, Marshall Norris of Simple Machine allowed Smith to utilize some extra space to help bring Kitsune to life.
The upcoming taproom, which will be about 3,500 square feet, is said to be “a welcoming place for everyone.” Fans of the brewery are probably already familiar with their hazy IPA selection, as that is what they are known for, but expect to see all types of different beers flowing through here.
Having the beer already in rotation on the market certainly helped the Kickstarter, which had an initial goal of $20,000 and sits at $36,728 as of this writing.
The money raised from the crowdfund will go to fermenters, brite tanks, kegs, hoses, and the other various expenses required to open a brewery.
Although What Now Phoenix reached out to Smith for comment on Friday, he was unavailable to confirm an opening date.
