Kura Revolving Sushi Bar, the restaurant best known for its choose-your-own sushi concept, will open at Goodyear Civic Square at 1900 North Civic Square in Downtown Goodyear.

According to the City of Goodyear’s website, the restaurant will join favorite eateries such as Shake Shack, BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse, and Dave’s Hot Chicken at this multi-use shopping and dining center.

The restaurant confirmed the news, marking the location as “coming soon” on its website. An opening date has not yet been announced.

Kura Sushi‘s first location opened in Japan in 1977. Its first U.S. location opened in Irvine, California, in 2009. The company has grown exponentially, and currently has 81 corporate-owned locations in the U.S. with plans for 14 more.

The sushi chain is unique for its interactive restaurants, where diners can choose their own dishes from an ever-moving conveyor belt. Kura Sushi also considers itself a tech company and designed its own system that uses AI technology to help tally the plates that customers choose from the revolving service area.

The restaurant specializes in sushi, hand rolls, nigiri, soups, and noodle dishes. The restaurant sources quality seafood for its dishes and is known for its specialty items such as the “Kura Roll” with avocado and shrimp mayo, wrapped in sushi rice and dried seaweed; and a crunchy taco filled with avocado and shrimp mayo, and shrimp tempura.
