A new food hall called Jefferson House is getting ready to debut later this year in downtown Peoria, located at the northwest corner of 83rd Avenue and Jefferson Street.

Jefferson House is the latest from the founder of The Churchill in downtown Phoenix, Kell Duncan, and will feature approximately 21,000 square feet dedicated to independent, local dining and retail with meeting and event space in the middle, according to AZ Central. Duncan will operate the new food hall alongside the owners of Driftwood Coffee. The Peoria City Council approved the new development at the beginning of the month, along with Caldwell County BBQ.

While the upcoming Jefferson House is still in the planning stages, Duncan is finding local businesses to fill the spaces. There is currently no timeline or confirmed tenants for the food hall. Jefferson House will be developed by and rented from the city of Peoria, with chances for the business owners to purchase the buildings once the initial lease period is up. Duncan, a West Valley native, will use the opportunity to provide more unique dining and retail opportunities in the area.

“The infrastructure of that downtown has a lot of potential opportunity. And I like that Caldwell is going in right next to us,” Duncan tells AZ Central. “The Churchill is going to feel different than what is now going to be called the Jefferson house. And we get to cater to that. What does the community of Peoria want and need, versus what did the community of downtown Phoenix want? We need to spend some time now with that and really come up with a good mix of what that tenant mix will look like.”
