Raices Restaurant & Coffee Bar is coming soon to Mesa. The business is getting ready to open doors at 1916 W. Baseline Road, according to a liquor license application filed with the state of Arizona.

Raices is brought to us by Ben Chavez, who also operates the popular Puerto Rican bakery, Sweet Land Cake, in Phoenix. In a phone call with What Now Phoenix this week, Chavez said that they recently finished renovating the restaurant space and are gearing up to open doors in September.

While Chavez wasn’t able to disclose any further details about Raices, recent postings on Sweet Land Cake’s Facebook account imply that the new restaurant will serve Puerto Rican cuisine. Perhaps we can expect some delicious Puerto Rican pastries to go with an excellent coffee service.

The restaurant is outfitted with plenty of dine-in seating as well, so we wouldn’t be surprised if the menu will also include lunch and/or dinner service. For now, Raices Restaurant & Coffee Bar is hiring for front- and back-of-house positions.
