Last month, Glendale’s iconic tea room The Spicery, located at 7141 n 59th Ave, reopened under the auspices of its four new owners – Bud and Lorraine Zomok, Sue Bernstein, and Kenn Clark – who implemented a full remodel of the historic home, complete with expanded seating options in the dining room, library, bedroom, and patio, according to local media outlet KTAR News

In a statement posted to The Spicery’s website, the new owners wrote, “Bud and Lorraine Zomok, along with their dear friend Sue Berntsen and Lorraine’s Brother Kenn are honored to continue the long-standing traditions of The Spicery. The team is excited to keep all the treasured memories and history alive of this special place in Historic Downtown Glendale.”

The Spicery Tearoom – also known by its full name, The Spicery in Our 1895 Home – was founded some 30 years ago by Martha Campbell, a “lifelong Glendale resident,” who “restored the history Messenger-Brewster home to a bustling happy restaurant filled with the aroma of baking bread and the clink of china and silver.”
