Ice cream lovers will have yet another way to get their frozen fix when Salt & Straw opens at Heritage Park.
The ice cream shop, known for its unique flavors and plans on opening a shop in 2026 at the multi-use center at North Gilbert Road, reports East Valley Now. This will mark the second Gilbert location and the fourth Arizona shop for Salt & Straw.
The Portland-based ice cream shop was founded in 2011 by cousins Kim and Tyler Malek who dreamed of a neighborhood gathering spot where people could come for a shared treat. They worked long and hard to develop the perfect ice cream recipe, using locally-sourced ingredients. Their “farm-to-cone” approach became popular and soon their business grew from a single cart to multiple locations — including shops at Walt Disney World and Disneyland.
Today, Salt & Straw is known for its creative, seasonal flavors like its Halloween collection that includes an insect-infused flavor called Creepy Crawly Critters and a Thanksgiving ice cream feast that includes Parker House roll and turkey-and-cranberry flavors. The ice cream shop also offers a good selection of vegan flavors along with its high butterfat-content ice creams that treat customers with a rich texture and deep flavor profiles.
When it opens at Heritage Park, Salt & Straw will join a host of eateries including Hudson House, Ghost Donkey, Palma, and Blue Sushi Sake Grill.
