Salt & Straw, the Oregon-based ice cream company known for its inventive flavors, is expanding in Arizona with new stores set to open this year in Phoenix and Tempe.
Salt & Straw first arrived in Arizona last July, opening its debut location at the Epicenter at Agritopia in Gilbert at 3150 E. Ray Road, previously reported by What Now Phoenix. The opening drew enthusiastic crowds eager to try the company’s signature artisanal ice cream. Building on this success, Salt & Straw will open two additional scoop shops in Fall 2025, according to Phoenix New Times. The Phoenix store will be located at Uptown Plaza at 100 E. Camelback Road is a historic shopping center featuring a mix of local and national eateries. The Tempe location will be situated inside Novus Place, located at 690 S. Novus Place, a new entertainment district near Downtown Tempe.
The Gilbert location offers a rotating menu alongside classic flavors, such as strawberry honey balsamic with black pepper, arbequina olive oil, chocolate gooey brownie, and double-fold vanilla. This approach enables Salt & Straw to introduce new flavors while consistently maintaining popular staples. The new Phoenix and Tempe locations will expand Salt & Straw’s presence in the Valley. The Phoenix store in Uptown Plaza will sit near neighborhoods such as Medlock Place and Windsor Square, while the Tempe store will be situated at Novus Place, close to Tempe Town Lake and Arizona State University. Opening dates have not been announced.
Founded in 2011 by cousins Kim and Tyler Malek, Salt & Straw has expanded to over 40 locations nationwide. The company is recognized for its artisanal approach and innovative flavor combinations, which emphasize creativity and high-quality ingredients. Salt & Straw continues to expand strategically, bringing its unique ice cream experience to new communities across the country, with the Valley now playing a key role in its growth plans.
