Brand new on the Phoenix pizza scene is Señor Muertos Pizza, a joint serving up pies with flavor profiles like Original Taco, Chile Relleno, and Nacho Queso. According to their website, “the concept was born from our love of pizza, Mexican food, and the celebration of Día de los Muertos.”

On April 30th, Señor Muertos announced their opening via their Instagram page, posting, “We’re excited to announce that our ovens are ready & our doors are open so come try the best pizza you’ll ever taste.”

Inspired by Oaxacan tlayudas, Señor Muertos’ pizzas are made with a blend of flour, corn meal, and masa harina which is the type of corn flour used to make tortillas. And the pizzas come with three basic sauces, a vegan refired bean base, the Muertos pizza sauce that is bright and classic, and queso for a “rich creamy cheese experience.” Salsa and condiments are made fresh in-house daily, and you can customize your topping choices as you please. Not to mention fresh fried cinnamon sugar churros with a chocolate dipping sauce for dessert (or a pre pie snack, who are we kidding?).
