Slice House, the San Francisco-based fast-casual pizza chain, is opening a restaurant in Gilbert.

JMJ997 LLC filed applications with the Town of Gilbert for a restaurant at 3115 Val Vista Drive. The space, formerly a Lou Malnatis, is considered prime real estate, according to East Valley Now, which notes its, “prime corner positioning, strong neighborhood traffic, and direct access from both Pecos and Val Vista”. An opening date has not been announced.

Slice House opened in San Francisco in 2010. The concept was opened by Gemignani, a 13-time world champion pizza maker as a fast casual slice shop sibling to his successful Tony’s Pizza Napoletana. The restaurant explores different pizza styles that typically aren’t available under one roof: New York, Detroit, Grandma, and Sicilian. The pizzas can be topped with any number of items ranging from pepperoni to spinach and applewood smoked bacon. Can’t decide? Choose a Slice House pizza by name — Hawaiian Hit Man, Big Pappa, or Drunken Italian may just be the cheesy meal you need.

The pizza restaurant is growing rapidly, with about three dozen locations that range from traditional brick-and-mortars to stands in stadiums and arenas. There are more than 100 additional restaurants in development across several states with a focus on California, Colorado, Texas, and Utah.
