Smoothie King is coming to 5482 S. Power Road in Gilbert, according to applications found in city public records. The brand already has nine locations in the Grand Canyon State and Gilbert is getting one of two upcoming stores in Arizona, the other coming to Chandler.
Owner and franchisee Karen Lowe tells What Now Phoenix that this is her first Smoothie King store, which she looks forward to opening in March. Lowe is a Louisiana native and grew up with the Smoothie King brand, which was founded in 1973 out of Kenner, Louisiana.
“Smoothie King has always been a part of my life in Louisiana, which is where I also raised my kids. As athletes throughout high school and college, Smoothie King was always a go-to whether it be for meal replacements or a post-practice refreshment,” Lowe says.
Now a Gilbert resident, she looks forward to having her community visit the store and wants to help build the Smoothie King brand throughout Arizona. The chain is committed to serving clean, nutritious blends with whole fruits, organic veggies, and no added sugars.
This spring, Gilbert residents can stop by their new Smoothie King for post-workout treats such as the The Activator Recovery Blueberry Strawberry, which is a blend of Gladiator Protein, coconut water, strawberries, and wild blueberries. Or those who are looking to treat themselves can try Angel Food, which is Smoothie King’s own take on the traditional strawberry banana smoothie.
