Sphinx Date Co. Palm & Pantry, a charming, vintage‑style date shop and boutique pantry, located at 3039 N. Scottsdale Road, just south of Old Town Scottsdale, is getting ready to relocate later this year.
The company recently announced on Instagram that co-owners Sharyn and Rebecca Seitz will be relocating this summer, due to a “sudden and unexpected change in the lease terms of its current location in Old Town,” according to a news release that was first reported by Phoenix New Times. Sphinx Date Co., formerly known as Sphinx Date Ranch, has been operating for nearly 75 years. It has called its current Scottsdale Road location home for over 30 years. Plans for a new location and the timing of the move have not been announced yet. Regardless, the mother-and-daughter duo plans to keep the doors open until the relocation is underway.
“It is with mixed emotions that we announce that Sphinx Date Co. will soon be relocating,” according to the announcement. “A sudden and unexpected change in the lease terms has made it impossible to stay in the location we have called home for the past 30 years. We have cherished our time here and the experiences we’ve had with all our Sphinx patrons, and are still adjusting to this fast-moving change. However, we look to the future with positivity and excitement for the next chapter. We thank our loyal customers who have supported Sphinx Date Co. for its nearly 75 years in business. Sphinx Date Co. Palm & Pantry offers a variety of Arizona-grown dates, including Medjools and rare types like Barhi and Khadrawy. It also provides date-based treats, including stuffed dates, chocolate-covered dates, and date salsa. The store features locally made pantry items, including honey, jams, and sauces, as well as Arizona wines and craft beer. Their signature date shakes, made with Medjool dates, ice cream, and milk, are available year-round. Gift boxes and themed baskets are available for purchase in-store or shipping.
