Streets of New York, a beloved Arizona institution serving up fresh pizzas for nearly half a century, is returning to Fountain Hills.

For 23 years, the Fountain Hills location of this local chain served its community, closing in January 2025. Now, the restaurant has announced it is reopening a Fountain Hills pizzeria on Facebook, taking over the former Euro Pizza restaurant with a full remodel, “to serve up your favorite pizza, pasta, wings & more… with a killer view”.

The first Streets of New York opened in 1976 in Phoenix by German pastry chef Bernd Glaeser and his wife, Lorrie Glaeser as a way to start a new life. Trading the cold northeast coast, they decided to purchase a restaurant location on the corner of 32nd Street and Cactus Road in Phoenix. That would be the first Streets of New York location.

The restaurant grew to have a loyal following for its custom New York-style pizzas, Italian wedding soup, salads, cheesy garlic bread, and hearty pasta dishes.

From that one restaurant, the company has grown. There are currently 14 locations throughout the Metro Phoenix area, one in Prescott, and one in Las Vegas.

The restaurant is also community minded, and offers a unique “street cents” program that allows people to raise money for their favorite local organization by handing out flyers for the restaurant and receiving 15 percent of a guest’s total bill as a charitable contribution in return.
