A new Taco Bell is coming to Phoenix. While we’re not completely sure as to the “when,” a recently issued building permit for a Taco Bell at 1640 S 7th Street expires in July of 2023, so we can expect this location to be up and running before then.

Fronting the ownership for the construction of this fast-food joint is S K & M Investments, an Arizona-based Real Estate corporation, according to the permit filing. D&R Construction out of Gilbert is slated to build it.

Taco Bell first came into the world back in 1962 in Downey, California. The creator, Glen Bell, took the experience he’d had opening up a taco shop in the San Bernardino area in 1954 to create what would become one of the most recognizable fast-food chains in the world. It only took four years before the 100th location hit, and eight before it went completely public at 325 restaurants in 1970. There are almost 8,000 locations internationally nowadays with no end in sight.

Any Taco Bell fan knows the menu changes often, and sometimes that can really anger the patrons. There’s no telling what the menu will look like by the time this restaurant opens. Perhaps it will have easier-access vegetarian and vegan options already on the menu’s display. Who knows, maybe they’ll even do us all a favor and bring back the Mexican pizza.

Just as long as they don’t change the Number 6 or get rid of the Baja Blast, we’re good.
