Ghost Ranch, a modern Southwestern restaurant serving dishes embodying the Wild West’s spirit, has been bought out by a new ownership team, officially taking over the restaurant in Tempe at 1006 E Warner Rd.

The restaurant opened in 2018 by brothers Aaron and David Chamberlin, with head chef Rene Andrade and sous chef Roberto Centeno. Eventually, the brothers split their businesses in 2019, with Aaron getting Phoenix Public Market Cafe and Taco Chelo in downtown Phoenix and David taking Ghost Ranch and Tempe Public Market Cafe. Ghost Ranch has been sold to new owners in a deal facilitated by The Restaurant Brokers. As a result, Backbar Hospitality Management, led by Robert Schulken and Roque Jimenez, is the new owner of the Tempe restaurant. Backbar Hospitality is also responsible for the concepts Cien Agaves Tacos & Tequila and Nello’s Pizzeria + Italian Kitchen.

Ghost Ranch serves a vibrant mix of modern Southwestern cuisine that captures the bold and untamed flavors of the American Southwest. In addition to steaks, smoked meats, and tacos, Ghost Ranch also offers dishes like enchiladas, roasted chicken, and a selection of fresh salads. The restaurant features a variety of sides, such as fried potatoes and street corn, as well as a range of desserts and craft cocktails to complement the meal. The restaurant’s atmosphere draws on the beauty of the desert, offering a dining experience that reflects Arizona’s rich heritage. The new owners tell What Now that they chose to buy this restaurant because they love the food and staff and will not change the menu or chefs.

“Bringing the untamed flavors of the Southwest to South Tempe, Ghost Ranch is a modern Southwestern restaurant serving dishes that embody the spirit of the Wild West with hearty Cowboy Steaks, Smoky Rancho Beans, and larger-than-life Taco Platters,” according to the company. “Our chef-perfected menu includes new-age takes on your favorite Mexican & New Mexican classics. Enjoy Happy Hour daily from 3 pm to 6 pm. Try our signature cocktails enhanced by our extensive Tequila & Mezcal options. No matter the occasion, be our guest and experience exceptional hospitality in a setting inspired by the iconic Red Rocks and wild beauty of the Sonoran Desert!”
