The owner of The Italian Daughter is getting ready to open a sister concept pizzeria called The Italian Daughter Pizzeria, located at 32607 N Scottsdale Road in Scottsdale.

The new restaurant will replace Pei Wei Asian Kitchen in Hallmark Gold Crown Shopping Center. Owner Melissa Maggiore-Meyer confirms with What Now Phoenix that she recently signed the lease and expects to open The Italian Daughter Pizzeria in September or October 2023. The restaurant will focus on wood-fired Neapolitan and Sicilian-style pizza. It will have craft boards, a lounge area, charcuterie options, live music, beer on tap, craft cocktails, elevated paninis, salads, and Sicilian and Calabrese street food.

Melissa opened The Italian Daughter at 23687 N Scottsdale Rd in 2021 to pay homage to her late father, Tomaso Maggiore, who passed away that year. While this is not a second location for The Italian Daughter, Maggiore-Meyer says it is still in the pipeline but much later.

Melissa’s brother, Joey Maggiore, will also open a new restaurant called Il Massetos to honor their father. Il Massetos will sit at 3178 E Camelback Road, across the street from Tomaso’s on Camelback, a restaurant founded by their father that will close on May 20. This is one of many restaurants from Joey, who has also opened Hash Kitchen, The Sicilian Butcher, The Sicilian Baker, and The Mexicano Concepts.

While Joey opened several restaurants in the Phoenix area, Melissa focused on Southern California. The restaurateur opened La Bruschetta in La Jolla, a second location of Zibibbo Italian Bistro in Encinitas, and Tommy V’s Urban Kitchen in Carlsbad, the subject of the Food Network series Family Style. Melissa relocated to Scottsdale in 2018 to be closer to her family and assist in family operations.
