The Union Jack, an upcoming British pub and restaurant, is set to open its doors for the first time at 15688 N Pima Road, Suite C 5&6.

Now that they have obtained their liquor license, they are all set for a soft open on August 19, and are hopeful they can follow it with a grand opening on August 21.

“This will be a 100% purely British food and menu pub. Meat pies, fish and chips, the whole nine,” Suhkjit Ghuman, one of the owners, told What Now Phoenix. “While it has a British theme, we still want to cater to all of our American friends and family. We’ll be showing all the American sports and things like that, we’re just bringing some culture to the region.”

He adds, “There’s a large soccer following here in Scottsdale, so we’re really looking forward to that.”

The taps in the pub will also contain both domestic and British ales and will also have a full bar with live music every week. The British influences draw heavily from Scotland, Wales, England and Northern Ireland.

That Irish influence was already there, too, as the Union Jack is taking place of what used to be the Skeptical Chemyst Irish Pub.

“This will be the start of a chain,” Ghuman says. “There will be more in Arizona, and then Nevada and California. We’re negotiating a timeline already.”

As for the space that’s ready to open, he says, “Everything has been ripped out, redone and redeveloped, from top to bottom.”
