Tropical Smoothie Cafe, a national franchise offering smoothies, smoothie bowls, and other beverages packed with responsibly sourced, quality ingredients, is opening a new location in Buckeye at the northeast corner of the Interstate 10 Freeway and Verrado Way.

The cafe is set to open in Verrado Marketplace, which will stand at the entrance to DMB Associates’ 8,800-acre Verrado master-planned community, according to a press release. Franchise owner Caitlin Lovett will open this location in Spring 2026, joining a handful of existing tenants such as Target, Safeway, Ross, Marshalls, and HomeGoods. This is the first of many new locations for the franchise owner, a longtime customer who fell in love with the product and brand during and after her pregnancy.

“I just love their product” Lovett tells What Now Phoenix. “I’ve been a customer for a long time and went there once or twice a week while pregnant. Ever since I’ve been a loyal customer. They have such a great and fresh menu and a strong sense of community — whether it’s the employees, founders, or franchise owners, it’s really just an incredible business to be surrounded by.”

Before opening the new location at the Verrado Marketplace, Lovett will expand the brand by launching a new site in Surprise, located near the intersection of 303 and Highway 60. Groundbreaking for this site is expected in Spring 2025, with a tentative opening planned for the end of next year. At the same time, Lovett is also working on a new location in Buckeye, situated at the corner of Broadway and Miller Roads, which is scheduled to open in late 2025. Additionally, she aims to open another location in the greater Surprise area, although the franchise owner is still searching for the right spot.
