According to a recent permit filing, Commensal Fermentation is set to open its door soon at 3901 N Williams Ave Unit A.

A representative of Commensal Fermentation was unable to provide further information upon What Now Portland’s request at this time.

While an official opening date and Commensal Fermentation’s offerings have yet to be confirmed, the permit lists the business as a brewery and public house, with Thursday through Sunday being their planned days of operation.

Thursday is listed to be open on the permit from 4 PM to 9:30 PM, Friday from 4 PM to 10:30 PM, Saturday from 2:30 PM to 10:30 PM, and Sunday from 2 PM to 8 PM. Their outdoor option will hold the same business days and food and alcohol service options.

According to Bizapedia, Commensal Fermentation was filed for approximately one year ago on September 6th of 2022. The registered agent on file for the company is Michael Lamar Mathis.

The building that Commensal Fermentation will be residing in was originally built in 1914, according to Showcase. The location is described as a vintage gem that offers an unparalleled location in close proximity to central North Portland. The building is steeped in character and history, with the vintage appeal extending to the interior, where an exposed old-growth timber ceiling resides alongside a glass roll-up door, merging the indoors with the outdoors and inviting an abundance of natural light.

Additionally, some of the building’s residents include Crisp Salads, Grains of Wrath, and La Cocina Restaurant. Neighboring businesses include Eem, Reclamation, and Kayo’s Ramen Bar, to name a few provided by Showcase.
