Serving up “Seasonal wood-fired food & hand-tossed pizzas,” Strange-Bird presents itself as officially, definitionally, strange: it’s a restaurant that’s “different from what is usual, ordinary, or expected.”
The brand’s “Ever changing, Ever evolving” menu has featured plates like the Bloomsdale Spinach Salad (Bloomsdale spinach, first-of-the-season satsumas, fried ricotta, black radish, olive oil) and the Rockfish (fried rockfish sandwich, cheddar, red anjou pear and serrano slaw).
The restaurant concept, which currently does not have a permanent brick-and-mortar home, stated back in March, on Google, that is operating “Currently pop ups only.”
However, this week, What Now came across liquor licensing paperwork submitted by Folksy Foods LLC for Strange-bird at 2114 SE Clinton St. in Portland. The application is for a full on-premises liquor license for an establishment open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., with restaurant seating for 15 and additional outdoor seating for 4.
What Now reached out on Tuesday to owner Tyler Robb to ask about plans for a new Strange-bird on Clinton Street. Robb was not immediately available for comment.
