According to a recent article from Portland’s Business Journal, Suki’s Bar will be taking over what was previously Claudia’s Sports Pub, located at 3006 SE Hawthorne Blvd.
A representative of Suki’s Bar was not immediately available for commentary upon What Now Portland’s request.
While an official opening date has yet to be confirmed, according to the previously mentioned Portland Business Journal article, “Suki’s evolved from a steakhouse and piano bar to a neighborhood pub with a locally famous karaoke night, according to its website. Its regular events include standup comedy open mics and “drag-aoke” nights.”
“Claudia’s, Portland’s oldest sports bar, was opened in 1958 by Claudia and Gene Spathas and was a fixture of the Hawthorne neighborhood. Its last day in business was October 9th.”
On Suki’s company website, they state that “Suki’s Bar continues the family tradition today by bringing you a menu derived from their mother’s home recipes.” Their website also has two separate sections for sports and karaoke.
An Oregon Live article also relays that “Suki’s 2 represents the latest collaboration between Phil Chung and operating partner Bradley Stephens, who previously teamed up to open Northeast Portland cocktail bar Cereus PDX last year.”
