The Tejano Conjunto Festival en San Antonio kicks off today, May 15! This year’s festivities will continue till May 18. The festival showcases the best of Conjunto music, from iconic legends to emerging bands, including recipients of prestigious heritage awards.
Organized by the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center, this is the 43rd edition of the Tejano Conjunto Festival en San Antonio. The event holds the status of the first and longest-running Conjunto festival in the country.

Festival to Begin with Lively Senior’s Conjunto Dance
Tejano Conjunto Festival begins today, and it will start with one of its more popular and highlighted events – the Senior’s Conjunto Dance. This event calls in everyone aged over 55 years to dance to live music for free.
Live music for the dance will be presented by Eddie “Lolo” Torres, Los Conjunto Kings de, and Flavio Longoria. The artists will play their music one by one, and the attendees can enjoy dancing to their tunes.

A New Opening Day Event
The 43rd Annual Tejano Conjunto Festival will include a new, educational event on its opening day. “Archiving & Documenting Our Cultura” will be an exhibition of the collections and photography of artists and archivists from the community.
Visitors will be able to see the memorabilia by Archivist Ramón Hernández. Photographs of lived conjunto music culture by Photographer Lupito Acuña and Photojournalist Mariaelena Villarreal will also be on display.
A panel discussion with the artists and a reception that follows will also be part of the event. Aaron Salinas and Joey Guerrero will play their music.

Three Days of Conjunto Music to Follow
Following the opening day, the festival will have three days from May 16 to 18 packed with performances. All the events will be happening at Rosedale Park. Enjoy the Conjunto music in the atmosphere of a barbecue party and join the several thousand attendees.
This celebration of Conjunto music will bring in legends and rising stars of the music on stage. Los Texmaniacs, the Grammy-winning band and “Queen of Conjunto Music,” Linda Escobar, are part of the lineup. Attendees can enjoy dancing to the music and experience the vibrant culture at the festival.
Everyone is welcome to bring in their lawn chairs so that they can enjoy the music comfortably. Plenty of food and beverage options will be available from the vendors at the festival.
