It’s about to get a little warmer in San Antonio, with the second installment of beloved global bakery, 85°C Bakery Café, set to open at the Windcrest Town Center in Spring 2026. Dubbed to signify the perfect temperature for coffee, the Taiwanese sweet shop, has been more than just right since its debut in San Antonio last year. Now set to open its second location at 5253 Walzem Rd. excitement for the widely popular eatery continues to mount.
According to a state filing, construction on the new 85°C Bakery Café set to open in San Antonio next spring is slated to start this December and wrap up by mid-April 2026. If all goes well, San Antonio residents will have a second location to purchase affordable baked goods from by the end of April.
The bakery chain has grown quickly since its inception in Taiwan in 2003. Owner, Cheng-Hsueh Wu, opened the first US store in Irvine, California, in 2008, according to the bakery’s website. There are now more than a thousand 85°C Bakery Cafe locations in the world.
“85°C Bakery Cafe is not an ordinary cafe. Each cup of coffee is individually brewed with Guatemalan coffee beans for a smooth, rich taste. All of our drinks are handcrafted and made to order. Each store features an in-shop bakery with over 50 varieties of pastries baked fresh hourly,” the website reads.
It is said that Wu’s inspiration for creating the globally acclaimed pastry and coffee shop was a visit to a five-star hotel cafe. The 85°C Bakery Café wanted to bring the high-end taste to communities worldwide, but at an affordable price.
85°C Bakery Café now offers everything from premium coffee to cakes at a price that won’t break the bank.
What Now San Antonio reached out to the 85°C Bakery Café team for comment on the new San Antonio opening, but did not hear back by the time of this publication.
Readers are advised to stay vigilant about a grand opening date to be announced. But, those intrigued can rest assured knowing that the San Antonio 85°C Bakery Café is set to open at the Windcrest Town Center at 5253 Walzem Rd. in Spring 2026.
