Good Time Charlie’s Closed Its Door After 4 Decades of Service
Good Time Charlie’s was started in 1979 by Millard Stetler and Eddie Ruffo with a vibrant music bar operation and a subsequent expansion to a family dining restaurant. Good Time Charlie’s has been the destination of choice for seeking satisfying meals, chilled beverages, and a relaxed venue to meet for all these years.
The restaurant was located at the corner of Broadway and Mulberry and was open seven days a week, so it was a well-known destination in the city.
Owners Ed and Millard, along with their crew, expressed thanks to their regular customers on Facebook, stating, “We have so many fond memories, and we hope you do as well. Thank you for the good times, San Antonio!”
Over the past 46 years, the restaurant has hosted customers in a truly authentic “down-home” atmosphere, where everyone was treated like family. They have done the customers a service with homemade burgers, Tex-Mex cuisine & fried catfish, along with margaritas & beers.
Their patrons have flooded their memories and love for the restaurants. “I actually walked up here today to get some fries from here and a hamburger. They probably had the best fries in the whole city!” one customer commented. “It really feels like we’re losing a pillar of the community.”
Good Time Charlie has bid its last farewell to San Antonio after being open for 46 years. The restaurant didn’t just serve food; it also made memories for the people. Ed and Millard, the owners, were thanked for all the love and support offered throughout all these years.
