According to the San Antonio Business Journal, Alamo Beer Co. is changing hands.

Per the report, the Australian company SKJ Capital submitted the winning bid on the company this week in a U.S. Bankruptcy Court. The transition follows a bankruptcy filing in which Alamo Beer states that it owed between $1 million and $10 million to as many as 99 creditors.

“Alamo Beer Co. will remain on site and continue operations,” Eugene Simor, the brewery’s founder, tells the Journal. Located at 202 Lamar Street, the brewhouse is neighbored by establishments such as Boxcar Bar, the barbecue joint Bussin’ Q, and Smacks Chicken Shack.

For readers who are unfamiliar with Alamo Beer Co., the business was founded by Simor in 2014. In 2023, the company merged with another local label, VIVA Beer in an effort to “bring together the best of both worlds, creating a powerful synergy that will strengthen their shared commitment to crafting exceptional, approachable beer for the San Antonio community and beyond,” per a press release shared at the time.

Earlier this year, Alamo Beer Co. filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy, following “the closure or downsizing of multiple San Antonio beer-making businesses,” according to KSAT.
