Austin’s El Arroyo, known for Tex-Mex cuisine and entertaining locals with messages on its marquee sign, plans to debut a new outpost in New Braunfels, according to San Antonio Express-News.
Coming to a 50-acre spot at 1405 Gruene Road that’s home to the Rockin’ R River Rides headquarters, the eatery will land on the Guadalupe River near establishments such as Gristmill River Restaurant & Bar, Gruene River Grill, and Inferno’s Wood Fired Oven & Spirits.
The Journal reports that the expansion is the result of a collaboration between Justin Holliday, the principal of NAR Ventures, his wife, and Ellis and Paige Winstanley, El Arroyo’s owners since 2012.
Holliday tells Express-News that the riverside location is “too special not to take advantage of” and discloses that he and the team intend to “add outdoor dining space on a balcony overlooking the river, with the kitchen and dining area primarily on the second floor and a walk-up bar on the first floor.”
“We want things that will service people seven days a week,” he adds — “We’re trying to treat it like a village, town square type of thing.”
El Arroyo in Gruene is slated to open in the summer of 2025. Follow the eatery on Facebook for additional updates.
