National coffee bar chain Black Rock Coffee is expanding its San Antonio footprint — planning to open a new outpost in the city’s Far West Side next year.
According to a recently submitted construction permit application, the coffee business is taking over a space at 12030 Culebra Road, near eateries such as Lin’s Express, Summer Moon Coffee, and Whataburger.
What Now San Antonio reached out to Co-Founder and Co-Owner Jeff Hernandez to inquire about the upcoming outpost, but he could not offer additional information before publication.
Nevertheless, the filing provides further insight.
Described as the interior improvement of an existing 2,099-square-foot space — with construction scheduled to begin in January 2024 and finish in March 2024 — the Bentonville, Arkansas-based architecture firm Harrison French and Associates will carry out the project for an estimated $650,000.
For readers unfamiliar with Black Rock Coffee, the business describes itself as “a franchise located in 8 different states and dedicated to uplifting its local community” on its website, and is known for its lattes, frozen coffees, and energy drinks.
Since the company was founded by Hernandez in 2008, it has expanded to over 100 locations across the states.
An opening date has not yet been announced, so follow Black Rock Coffee on Facebook and Instagram for updates.
