Blanco Café is leaving its longtime home on St. Mary’s Street for a new address in Downtown San Antonio, according to a recent construction permit application.

Taking over 4,700-square-foot Suite 105 at the Dalkowitz Dry Goods Building, found at 201 W Commerce Street, the eatery will soon neighbor establishments such as Bunz Handcrafted Burgers, Fratello’s Centro Citta, and The Indian Night.

What Now San Antonio reached out to owner Albert San Miguel to inquire about the transition, but he could not provide additional information before publication.

Nevertheless, the filing offers further insight.

Described as the “interior finish-out and consolidation of two ground-floor tenant spaces to include kitchen and bar equipment, additional HVAC, lighting, and electrical work, as well as new restrooms and business areas,” renovations are slated to begin on October 1 and finish in February 2024. For an estimated $700,000, local firm Fisher Heck Architects, Inc. will carry out the project.

San Miguel tells MySA that Blanco Café on Commerce Street is slated to open in January. In the meantime, follow the eatery on Facebook and Instagram.
