Bonchon is coming to San Antonio, and it’s bringing their yummy, crunchy chicken with it. The popular food chain is set to make its debut next year. A recent press release announced that San Antonio is one of four American cities that Bonchon is looking to expand in next year.

No word just yet on where the new Korean fried chicken eatery will open, nor when exactly, but the news did note that this new location would be just the beginning of a great expansion into the territory.

Bonchon is headquartered in Dallas, after a move from New York City during the pandemic. The South Korean-born booming food chain already has several locations up and running in Houston, opening the first location in that area in 2016 after pulling out less than a year after attempting to open in 2013, according to Culture Map.

Bonchon CEO Suzie Tsai founded the brand in what could quite seriously be considered the birthplace of Korean Fried Chicken, Busan, South Korea. Now, there are more than 500 Bonchon locations up and running throughout the world, with 150 sprawled across the US.

What Now San Antonio reached out to Tsai for comment on the first Bonchon to hit the streets of San Antonio, but did not hear back by the time of this publication.

The menu, while simple, is tasty with your option of wings, drumsticks, or both in one of six sauces. But, in Korean traditional fashion, there are a host of side dishes, or bonchon, to choose from, including Japchae, fried rice, and edamame. But that’s not all. Bonchon’s extensive menu includes bao buns, Korean tacos, bulgogi, udon noodle soup, bibimbap, and more. The menu certainly has enough to go around.

Keep your ears perked and your eyes peeled for an official opening date and the first Bonchon location to hit San Antonio in 2026 by following Bonchon’s social media pages.
