Brazilian steakhouse chain Fogo de Chão intends to debut a new outpost in San Antonio, according to a recently submitted permit application.

Coming to 5546 N Loop 1604 W #160, the concept will land near establishments such as Kerbey Lane Cafe, Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen, and Pluckers Wing Bar.

The filing states that renovations to the existing 8,500-square-foot space are scheduled to begin on August 19, 2024, and be completed in February 2025, and will cost an estimated $900,000.

For those who are unfamiliar, Fogo de Chão is an international steakhouse chain founded in 1979 in Southern Brazil. The eatery specializes in churrasco — a style of barbeque that involves cooking skewered meat over an open flame — and is known for having gaucho chefs carve the meat tableside.

Menu items include steak, chicken, lamb, pork, seafood options, specialty salads, pasta, side dishes like polenta and garlic mashed potatoes, and dessert. For patrons interested in enjoying a plate of barbeque at home, the steakhouse also offers takeout, delivery, and catering.

An opening date has not been announced yet, so follow Fogo de Chão on Facebook for updates.
