Recently shuttered Southside spot Brooster’s Backyard Icehouse is gearing up to reopen, according to a recent Facebook announcement posted by the eatery’s owners.

“Get ready for the all-new Brooster’s Backyard Ice House, opening soon for family fun and entertainment! We can’t wait to welcome you to our revamped space, where great times and unforgettable memories are just around the corner. Stay tuned for our grand opening date!” they share on Wednesday, August 8.

What Now San Antonio contacted Judith Chavira, the wife of owner Norman Velez and a member of the Brooster’s Backyard Icehouse team, to inquire about the reopening, but she could not provide additional information before publication.

For readers who are unfamiliar with Brooster’s Backyard Icehouse, the business “initially opened in November 2020 on San Antonio’s Southside, offering a kid-friendly, pet-friendly and mostly outdoor space in a time when that was especially crucial,” MySA reports.

“The establishment gained a local following for its laid-back atmosphere, live music performances, and hosting frequent events, like artisan markets and bingo,” the Journal’s description continues.
