Julia Smith is new to San Antonio, but she’s bringing West Coast mimosa houses with her to a new concept brunch and drinks restaurant in the Far Northside. Mimosa Gossip, a soon-to-open brunch spot at 2907 N Loop 1604 E., will be serving brunch and a menu of over 25 different styles of mimosa.
“It’s all glitz and glam. We’re trying to bring something extremely, extremely different,” says Julia Smith, co-owner and co-founder.
Smith, who will be running the restaurant with her sister, Heather Whiting and her sister’s husband, Travis Whiting, says the store is looking to finalize its final permits from the city and has a tentative opening planned for May this year.
When open, the Mimosa Gossip will cover an 1,837-square-foot area, according to its filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
The restaurant, outfitted with the slogan “Doing brunch the right way,” will offer classic American brunch, an extensive mimosa menu, and also a variety of non-alcoholic drinks and kid-friendly options. Smith says they are trying to keep everything inclusive, and to have something for everyone.
It will be located on the far north, nearby Roll On In, a sushi restaurant, and an axe throwing room.
“We wanted something for the locals,” says Smith. “Everyone goes downtown or to the Pearl, but we wanted something for the Northside with that fun vibe.”
