According to Culturemap San Antonio, the flagship La Frutería spot is shuttering, but the eatery’s owner, Chef Johnny Hernandez, has a new concept in mind for the spot.
“Coming soon! Chef Johnny is cooking up something special just for you. Stay tuned and get ready to treat your taste buds,” he shares in a recent Instagram post.
What Now San Antonio reached out to Chef Johnny Hernandez to inquire about his plans, but he could not provide additional information before publication.
For readers who are unfamiliar with the restaurateur, “Chef Johnny Hernandez is a celebrated chef, entrepreneur, and founder and President of Grupo La Gloria and True Flavors Inc.,” his website shares.
The introduction continues, “He is one of the premier Mexican cuisine chefs in the United States and a recognized authority on Mexican cuisine and culture. He first garnered notoriety as a rising star on the culinary scene in 2010 with the launch of his acclaimed flagship concept, La Gloria.”
