According to a recently submitted permit application, construction of a new beer garden is underway in Schertz.
Coming to 800 FM 3009, Schertz Creek Beer Garden will land just down the road from Merritt Lakeside Senior Village, near eateries such as El Jalisco Mexican food restaurant and Papa John’s Pizza.
What Now San Antonio reached out to the concept’s owner, Michael Armstrong, to inquire about the brewpub’s anticipated opening date, but he could not provide further information before publication.
Nevertheless, the filing offers additional insight.
Described as “interior renovation of an existing business into a bar,” improvements to the 2,000-square-foot space began on August 3 and are scheduled to be completed on October 31. For an estimated $100,000, the work is being carried out by Garden Ridge-based firm WPC Architects.
Schertz Creek Beer Garden will contribute to the city’s growing beer culture and brewery scene, joining established local favorites such as Gather Brewing Company, The Hidden Grove, and Willie’s Grill & Icehouse.
How the upcoming beer garden intends to set itself apart, and what locals can expect to find on the food and beverage menus, is yet to be publicized.
Stay tuned for updates.
