According to a recently submitted permit application, Dave’s Hot Chicken is expanding its San Antonio-area presence, planning to debut a new outpost in New Braunfels later this year.
Coming to the intersection of I-35 and FM 306, the eatery will land near businesses such as Buc-ee’s, H-E-B Plus!, and Target.
What Now San Antonio reached out to the outpost’s franchisee, Paul Gorman, to inquire about the upcoming spot; however, he could not provide additional information before publication.
Nevertheless, the filing offers further insight, revealing that “construction of a [3,075-square-foot] freestanding building” plus a drive-thru began on February 1 and was scheduled to be completed by July 16. Irving, Texas-based firm ID Studio 4, LLC, was tasked with carrying out the project for an estimated $900,000.
For readers who are unfamiliar with the history of the business, Dave’s Hot Chicken was founded in 2017 “in a parking lot in East Hollywood, with a couple of folding tables and a portable fryer under the night sky,” according to its website.
In 2019, the business began franchising, and today, it operates around 100 locations nationwide, as well as in Toronto. It is currently headquartered in Pasadena.
On the menu are items such as chicken tenders and sliders with five heat levels to choose from, ranging from “No Spice” to “Reaper,” which comes with a disclaimer. Sides include fries, mac & cheese, and kale slaw; milkshakes and slushies are on the beverage menu.
