“I love the business, but I’m also a very big fan of the product,” Dave's Hot Chicken franchisee, Paul Gorman, said of the brand's boom.

Dave’s Hot Chicken is continuing its growth in the Greater San Antonio area with a location set to open at 18476 IH 35 N in Schertz. A permit for the new hot chicken fast food joint shows that construction started earlier this year. What Now San Antonio spoke to the franchisee behind the new Dave’s Hot Chicken opening, Paul Gorman, about the addition, who shared that construction on the new restaurant actually didn’t start until this Summer and is just wrapping up.

“It checks all of the boxes,” Gorman said of the new Dave’s Hot Chicken location, which sits along a busy highway and populated intersection.

This will be the third Dave’s Hot Chicken opening for the restaurateur who got in on the hot chicken brand craze a few years ago.

“It’s just a different way to do chicken, and there’s nothing else like it in the area,” Gorman said.

” I know other hot chicken places are popping up in San Antonio, but I think ours offers so much more, and you can tell that by how fast the brand is growing and how many people love the product.”

The franchise originates on the streets of Hollywood, California, where three friends started a pop-up, according to Dave’s Hot Chicken’s Instagram. Now there are more than 300 Dave’s Hot Chicken locations throughout the world, and it just arrived in Canada a few years ago.

Now, not only are the beloved hot sandwiches turning up the heat in Canada, but there are also locations in Dubai and Saudi Arabia, to name a few.

“I love the business, but I’m also a very big fan of the product,” Gorman said.

“It’s an incredible brand that’s growing very, very fast.”

There are now nearly 40 Dave’s Hot Chicken outposts in Texas, with a handful of those in the Greater San Antonio area.

Though Gorman is already bringing in many of the San Antonio locations, he’s not stopping there, with plans to open at least two more next year.

“We are bringing variety to the chicken space. There are a lot of chicken places around, but Dave’s Hot Chicken is on a whole different level in my opinion,” Gorman said.

Dave’s Hot Chicken specializes in jumbo Hot Chicken Tenders and Sliders, along with sides of house-made Kale Slaw, creamy Mac n’ Cheese, and crispy, seasoned French Fries. According to this press release celebrating a widely praised anniversary, Dave’s Hot Chicken is offered at seven various spice levels ranging from No Spice to Reaper™ (which requires a signed waiver for those who dare). Each piece of juicy, hand-breaded chicken is spiced-to-order. Gorman shared that Dave’s Hot Chicken fans in the area can expect the Schertz opening to come with a new surprise.

“We have 7 different spice levels from No Spice to Reaper. We are currently running an LTO that’s called saucy bites,” Gorman said.

A fave Dave’s meal for Gorman is the #4: a single slider, spiced Medium with fries and a drink.

“That’s my favorite go-to,” Gorman said.

Schertz community members and its visitors can find their Dave’s Hot Chicken “go-to” meal when the new Dave’s Hot Chicken opens at 18476 IH 35 N in Schertz this Winter.
