Savvy Sliders is expanding to the Lone Star State — planning to open its first Texas outpost at 303 San Pedro Avenue in San Antonio before June.

Formerly home to the vegan chicken burger joint Side Chicks — which closed in April after the concept was acquired by a yet-to-be-disclosed national franchising group — the locale is near eateries such as Dunkin’, Luby’s, and Wendy’s.

“We’ve got a total of eight stores under development throughout Texas,” Vice President of Business Development Mark Wolok shares with the San Antonio Business Journal.

According to the article, the second San Antonio outpost is headed to San Pedro between Loop 410 and U.S. Highway 281, taking over Project Pollo’s previous spot.

For readers who are unfamiliar with the franchise, Savvy Sliders is best known for its Angus beef sliders, but also offers fried and grilled chicken, fish, falafel, and steakhouse rib-eye as options. Sides include fries, onion rings, and cheesy curds served with ranch, and, to drink, patrons can choose their favorite flavor of specialty custard shake.

“We knew that Texas was going to be a market for us, but we had to make sure it was the right time. This plan that we have in place, it’s the right time,” Wolok shares, adding that the Detroit-based burger chain is also eyeing the Dallas and Houston markets.

Savvy Sliders on San Pedro Avenue is slated to open later this month. In the meantime, follow the eatery on Facebook and Instagram for additional updates.
