El Bolillo Bakery is set to open its first location in San Antonio at 9940 W Interstate 10. The team behind the widely-acclaimed establishment confirmed with What Now San Antonio that the 10,000 square feet space will open in late 2026.
According to a press release, El Bolillo is dubbed “The Official Best Bakery in Texas” and is widely regarded for its hospitality. The Houston bakery is best known for its massive selection of handmade pan dulce, offering more than 150 varieties fresh each day.
El Bolillo first opened doors as a small Mexican bakery in the Greater Heights area of Houston. That was back in 1998. Since then, the beloved fresh bread makers have become staples throughout the Houston community. That small Mexican bakery has grown to five locations spanning across the greater Houston area, including Pasadena, and now serves thousands of customers daily across all five of those locations.
El Bolillio has a wide variety of sweet offerings from handmade pan dulce to empanada, soft conchas, and cakes for all types of special occasions.
“At El Bolillo Bakery, we believe in inclusivity and accessibility,” Andrew Miller, Chief Operations Officer, said in a statement.
“Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion with one of our custom cakes or simply stopping by for a warm bolillo, there’s something here for everyone. Our mission is to create a space where all are welcome, regardless of background or budget.”
Beyond providing sweet treats to the community, they also step in with sweet deeds, holding back-to-school drives and more in the area.
The bakery is continuing to enlarge its footprint across the Lone Star State, now setting the stage to serve the San Antonio community.
El Bolillo in San Antonio is expected to open its doors in the Riverstone at West Point area come winter 2026.
